ABOUT THE EVENT

Become part of a global movement to protect our planet’s most precious natural and cultural heritage. The World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) Initiative, launched by UNESCO and Better World, brings together passionate youth from across the globe to engage in grassroots conservation efforts.

This year, 89 action camp projects are taking place at 82 World Heritage properties and Tentative List sites across 41 countries—and you can be part of the action, right here in India!

About WHV – Western Ghats: A Cultural and Ecological Volunteer Program

Kaas Pathar, the “Valley of Flowers of Maharashtra,” is a UNESCO Natural Heritage site known for its vibrant seasonal blooms and unique plateau ecosystem. Through this 10-day action camp, you’ll collaborate with national and international volunteers and local communities to support biodiversity conservation and cultural preservation.

Program Highlights

  • Biodiversity Monitoring in sacred groves and grasslands

  • Invasive Species Eradication (Cosmos drive) to restore native ecology

  • Heritage Documentation of temples, forts, and traditional knowledge systems

  • Workshops on Traditional Art & Music like warli , Tie & Dye

  • Storytelling, Exhibitions & Symposium to share impact and reflections

Eligibilities

  • Age: 16 yrs – 65 yrs

  • Commitment: Participants must commit to the entire duration of the program (14–23 August 2025)

  • Interest: Must be enthusiastic about heritage conservation and promotion at a World Heritage Site

  • Eligible Regions: Open for All (Indian & International participants)

Participation Fees

(Includes accommodation, meals, and local travel during the program)

Travel to and from the site is to be arranged by the participant.
